Shepperton teacher is a classroom hero!

Mr Patel has been a PE teacher and Head of Year at Thamesmead School for 5 years, the school that he once attended himself as a student. In the Summer of 2023, Ryman (the sponsor) opened up to the entire country, for families to nominate any member of staff in a school setting, they felt, is a ‘Classroom Hero’.

Mr Patel was nominated by a Thamesmead family and Ryman select-ed Mr Patel, as one of 100 educators to win one of the awards, out of educators from across the entire country.

Mr Patel was thrilled to be recognised in this way and would like to thank those who shared kind messages on the social media posts and the family that kindly nominated and put him forward for this award.

Mr Patel shared the following words: “I feel very thankful to have been put forward for this award. I hugely enjoy my role as a PE teacher and Head of Year at Thamesmead, where I am able to share my passion for sport and wellbeing, to those in my care, where I look to inspire and motivate students to be the best versions of themselves. Being part of the Thamesmead community is special and I would like to thank all of the parents that have given me their sup-port and understanding; and to my colleagues around me, for their support and belief in me. Thamesmead gave me the passion to be a teacher and I feel fortunate to be able to be in the position I am now, to give back”.
