Village Matters

Sunbury & Shepperton Beat

By Inspector Maxine Cilia, Spelthorne Borough Commander

I hope that you all enjoyed the good weather over the Easter bank holiday and I am hoping for further good weather throughout the may Bank Holiday and Jubilee Celebrations.

It is an exciting time see communities getting together to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. I have had many applications for local road closures and it would be wise for you to check before travel throughout this celebratory weekend to see if your travel plans will be affected. I hope that you will have fantastic street parties and memories to treasure. We will be out and about with our own stands during this time, engaging in local events.

On a completely different note, we have seen a spate of allotments break ins where local sheds have been forced open and gardening tools stolen. These are probably being sold on a car boot sale or locally through a online market place. Please re-port any suspicious activity to police. Un-fortunately some of these sheds have been broken into on a number of occasions as they are secluded and isolated at night and this is causing a great level of distress and cost to the owners.

We are continuing our work with youth engagement over the oncoming weeks where we have a number of projects to try to involve our young people in the bor-ough in problem solving in their communi-ties, talking and engaging to solve local anti-social behaviour issues and engaging in sport. Look out for some of these exciting new initiatives coming to an area new you.

Thank you

Maxine
