A Place to be Inspired

By Monica Chard

Walk in to the Inspired Hub in Hampton and you will be forgiven for thinking you have arrived at a resort. Tinkling water cascades from a water feature. Relaxing areas offer a welcome feel. Zen type gardens offer calm. This place is full of surprises. It is also very much a place for everyone.

We met with founder Susan Green to learn about the centre and what if offers.

Susan had been running a networking group called Inspired Women. It attracted independent businesses offering, amongst other things, well being services. As the group grew, so did the idea of creating a space within the community where the group could ‘do’ rather than just ‘talk’. When the old Metropolitan Water working men’s club came up, Susan knew it was right.

Situated on Ashley Road, Hampton, it is a stones throw from the station. It has a large car park. Enter then through the welcome gate and you are in a different world. As well as the zoned seating areas at the front, there is a large children’s garden with play area at the back of the building. The main building consists of a large hall, used for all sorts of classes, as well as meeting rooms off it. There is a café serving home cooked food, and next to that is the original large social club area, still very much offering a more traditional space, including pool and snooker, a bar and a stage for live events.

The huts outside in the zen area house a number of long term projects, including a clothes/toy swap shop, with quality donations available to those who need a hand and to get across the message to children that we need not throw away in this world, but swap instead. This started during the lockdowns and has proved popular ever since. There is also a surplus food centre where food is both donat-ed and available. The Inspired Hub works with Surplus to Supper receiving a weekly delivery and also serves food made from sur-plus every Friday lunchtime.

Elsewhere you will find wellbeing practition-ers offering many services including massage and reflexology, mindfulness classes, nutri-tion, yoga and homeopathy, crystal healing, tarot readings and so much more.

Space is available to rent on a long or short term basis and is also taken for pop up events.
