Rivermead Island Celebrated in Book

Local photographer and poet Mike Doherty loves walking his dog on Rivermede Island. The island was a welcome escape during the lockdown months and inspired him to produce a self-published coffee table book of poetry and photos from his walks. Mike thinks of it as a tribute to the island and the resilience of some of his Sunbury dog walking friends: Daphne Clement, Allegra Taylor and Ian Cunliffe, all who feature in the book. He has dedicated the collection to all visitors to Rivermead Island, both two and four-legged!

It is a beautifully produced book, with stunning photos (examples of which you can see on this page) and inspiring gentle poetry, reflecting Mike’s observation of walkers and their dogs, nature and his musings on the lockdown and how it has affected us all.
