Great news this month. Village Matters triumphed in the recent Spelthorne Means Business Awards, winning Best Business in Sunbury but also runner up Best Business in Spelthorne!

In this months issue we introduce the new tap room at the Thames Side Brewery where local art and suppliers are the order of the day. We bring you details of the finalists of the Spelthorne Means Business competition and give you an update from both the Mayor and your councillors.

In this months magazine we have a look at return to school, the issue facing parents when choosing a school and considerations for mental health amongst the young. We also meet a photographer of both stars and animals, with a special gift and hear about the work at Bronzefield Prison in Ashford who need volunteers to join their monitoring board.

This month we bring you news of the launch of the Spelthorne Business Awards. Last year Brown Bag Crisps, based in Shepperton, were named Best Business in the Borough. Why not enter? We also meet Charlottes Chickens, another category winner from last year.

We hear about the original horse rangers of Shepperton and visit their base today at the Royal Mews, Hampton Court, where they are looking for volunteers. Could you help? Otherwise Brooklands Museum is also opening its doors to volunteers. We meet one local resident who volunteers there and he tells us why it is so important to him.

Lots of history in this months issue. We bring you a historic perspective of the horse rangers, who started in Shepperton. We visit them where they live now, in the Royal Mews, Hampton Court. 100 years since the death of Nurse Marjorie Croysdale we tell the story of this selfless lady and her family who lived at Hawke House.
