Bob a Job is Back!

Remember ‘Bob a Job Week’? The scouts used to knock on doors and offer to wash your car or do some other chores for a ‘bob’ (a ‘bob’ was 5p in old money – yes, we are going back a bit!)

Well, two boys from 1st Charlton Air and Sea Scouts, Matthew and Nathan (see right), who are both residents of Shepperton have been selected by ballot to go to the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea in the sum-mer of 2023. This really is a once in a life-time opportunity and they have been ex-tremely lucky to have been selected. They now have to raise a large amount of money to fund their trip and both have been busy planning sponsored events, quiz nights and odd jobs.

The boys are looking for help with their fundraising. If you own a local business and would be prepared to sponsor them in some way, or if you have any odd jobs that you would like the boys to do, for example dog walking, car washing or grass cutting, please get in touch with Mat-thew’s mum Diane. Please email diane.williams11@me.com.

We wish the boys good luck. It is lovely to see enterprising young things raising money them-selves for something they really have set their heart on. The jamboree is a great opportunity.
