The Shepperton Community Cookbook

Do you have a recipe to share?

Food, and preparing and sharing food with our family and friends may express many things about our identity, history, culture, community and lives.

Now, to celebrate the joy of food and the im-portance of our gorgeous neighbours we have decided to put together a Shepperton Commu-nity Cookbook. After such a difficult and uncertain time where many of us have relied on the support of neighbours, we want this to be a real celebration of everything we have to be thankful for in our community. So, we would love to see your fantastic recipes! They could be veggie, vegan or glu-ten free; they could be Mum’s, Dad’s, Grand-parent’s or children’s (and we would also love children’s drawings of food or meals with family and friends so that these can be includ-ed in our book too). It could be that your recipe has been passed down through genera-tions of your family, it may be a Saturday night favourite, comfort food, a special cake, or something that you make during times of celebration; it could be a meal that you love to share with your friends. Recipes don’t have to be especially complicated (although they could be that too). Perhaps you would like to share with us the first meal your boyfriend/girlfriend made you that just touched your heart or, if you love your Nan’s special beans on toast because she cuts the toast into trian-gles for you (that are just the right size and shape) we would love to know about that too!

As well as your recipe we would like you to send us a short piece (or it could be a funny story) from a sentence or two to a paragraph (we’ll leave it up to you) about why your reci-pe is so important and this will go alongside your recipe in our cookbook; together, we hope that your recipe and story will help us to get to know you a little more and make our community even more special.

Most of all we want our community cookbook to be fun and full of love because the plan is that proceeds from the eventual sale of our cookbook will be used to support local chari-ties such as Bags of Food (Jubilee Church, Shepperton), Surplus to Supper (Sunbury Cricket Club) and St Saviours Church (Sunbury) who are working so hard to support reduction of food waste and food poverty in our communities.

Please make sure that you include a clear list of ingredients, weights and method.

Recipes and stories can either be sent to clarenotley100@gmail.com or posted in an envelope for the attention of Clare to Jubilee Church, Manygate Lane, Shepperton. Please include your name and contact details.

We look forward to receiving all your delicious recipes and hearing your wonderful stories!

Thank you

Clare
