New Bike Shop Springs From Lockdown

CRANQ Cycles is a new bicycle repair and coffee shop in Surrey. We opened our doors on 18th June and have so far serviced over 400 bikes!

The core team is made up of three keen peo-ple eager to make a difference in our local community – Cliff Casey, Sam Kiteley and Daniel De Oliviera.

Like many others we took to exercising more during lockdown, so we dug our bikes out of the shed, dusted them off, then realised they needed a bit of maintenance – but little did we know at the time what a problem this would be. Not only did bike shops have no slots for weeks, but there was a 3-month waiting list for parts. We received little communication and the whole experience left us frustrated.

Hence our light bulb moment! After some research we found that the UK needs more bike repairs available for the number of bikes in the country.

Having run hospitality and event businesses for many years, we knew the grime and grit of start-ing a new venture, and lockdown taught us to get back to life in a new and different way.

Our good friend Daniel had recently become a skilled bike mechanic, and we were ap-proached by a second senior technician, so with them on board and Cliff and Sam’s busi-ness experience, our team was set, and so began our journey.

CRANQ is about being eco-friendly, helpful, friendly and offering brilliant service. Our aim is to create a cycling hub and coffee shop, hosting events to bring the community togeth-er. Whether you’re a pro-cyclist, commuter or weekender, we will look after you and your bike.

So, here we are, 3 months in and are speedily moving forward to a bright future and open-ing more CRANQ’s in the area.

Pop in and say hello sometime! We are at 8, Churchfield Road just off Walton High Street. See advert for contact details.
