Covid has been the last straw for Sharon Johnson. She set up and has been running the ever busy Shepperton Hedgehog Sanctuary in Old Charlton Road for 10 years. Hedgehogs were tak-en in with injuries, dehydration or abandoned young who needed feeding night and day.
With increasing demand she increased the capacity and took on and trained volunteers. Sadly those volunteers were not able to continue during the pandemic so Sharon was left to cope alone. It proved a very demanding period. It made Sha-ron realise she needed to devote more time to hear own fami-ly. It was not an easy decision to make.
