Shepperton Fair 2017

It’s here again! The Shepperton Fair 2017 is only a few days away. June 10th 2017 will see the crowds gather to watch the children parade down Shepperton High Street in their costumes, arriving at Manor Park for award giving and the start of all the fun of the fair. The event will be opened this year by the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey which is a real honour for us. He represents the Queen at functions, so he will no doubt be impressed by all the little princesses he will see. With a theme this year of Pirates and Princesses, it is truly a royal occasion.

We will also have the newly inaugurated Mayor of Spelthorne in attendance. Cllr Vivienne Leighton will be known to most of you already, as she is a long term Shepperton resident and councillor.

Wander around the grounds and you will be tempted by a great array of food in the newly created food corner. You can challenge yourself to the climbing wall and see if you can beat your friends. Visit stalls and be tempted to buy, take part in raffles or try your hand at competitions. You can sit down with a nice cuppa or admire crafts and photographic talent and marvel at history in the marquee.

There is a packed programme to entertain you this year. The arena will be buzzing with all sorts of acts; RPM Trial Bike team will be dazzling you with their daring twice in the afternoon. Reviews of the team are very enthusiastic; “The RPM show features some of the best bike trials riders in the country, dazzling audiences with displays of power and control with their bike display skills and showmanship. A must see!”
You will also see the Urban Dance School strutting their moves, and the ever superb Spelthorne Gymnastics are putting on a display.

But that is not all….You have been promised surprises….

Well how about this then? Gorillas in Shepperton! Yes you will have the chance to meet with mountain gorillas and their intrepid explorer friend who will tell you about the threats facing mountain gorillas. For a small donation you can even get up close and personal and have your photo taken with the beasts.

Remember the Shepperton Fair is run by volunteers. It is a huge amount of work to put the event on every year. If you think you could help on the day, or you would like to join the committee, you would be very welcome. Please contact chair@shepperton-fair.org or call 07802 216276.
