Shepperton Matters is a free monthly community magazine, launched in November 2011. The magazine is distributed to the Shepperton area every month but every issue is also available to read online right here.

Issue 100

This month we encourage you to take part in one of two business competitions. We look at changes on the high street and hear from Best One Laleham who have extended their services.

Issue 99

This month we take a historic look at the Thames at Shepperton, say a fond farewell to Samaritan of 53 years service, Noel Franklin-Taylor and hear many comments and concerns from local residents about the Local Plan.

Issue 98

We learn about the luxury car make Lammas Graham which was based in Sunbury. Also more about the history of Littleton Church and hear about the rugby final won by St Pauls/London Irish that involved a young man called Callum Hennessey.

As well as bringing you news of events in December to get you in the festive spirit we bring you a historical view of the War of the Worlds following the recent BBC drama. We also bid farewell to a couple of Shepperton stalwarts; Brian Holt and Stan Bulford.

Great news this month. Village Matters triumphed in the recent Spelthorne Means Business Awards, winning Best Business in Sunbury but also runner up Best Business in Spelthorne!

Issue 95

In this months issue we introduce the new tap room at the Thames Side Brewery where local art and suppliers are the order of the day. We bring you details of the finalists of the Spelthorne Means Business competition and give you an update from both the Mayor and your councillors.

Issue 94

In this months magazine we have a look at return to school, the issue facing parents when choosing a school and considerations for mental health amongst the young. We also meet a photographer of both stars and animals, with a special gift and hear about the work at Bronzefield Prison in Ashford who need volunteers to join their monitoring board.

This month is a double issue for July/August. You will find a spread of photos of the Shepperton Fair. See if you are on any of them! We bring you winning photos from the Capture Spelthorne competition as well as the winners of the Shepperton Fair photo competition.

Issue 92

This month we have all the details of the Shepperton Fair 2019. We also bring you inspiration for what to do with surplus food with our new recipes from the Community Café @riverhousebarn, Walton. We have the history of Matthew Arnold in Laleham, an overview of local reservoirs and bring you an update on changes at the Shepperton Medical Practice.

This month we look at things to do locally on the water, we have lunch with the incoming Mayor of Spelthorne, Mary Madams and we read about one of Shepperton’s lost pubs.

Issue 90

This month we bring you news of the launch of the Spelthorne Business Awards. Last year Brown Bag Crisps, based in Shepperton, were named Best Business in the Borough. Why not enter? We also meet Charlottes Chickens, another category winner from last year.

We hear about the original horse rangers of Shepperton and visit their base today at the Royal Mews, Hampton Court, where they are looking for volunteers. Could you help? Otherwise Brooklands Museum is also opening its doors to volunteers. We meet one local resident who volunteers there and he tells us why it is so important to him.

We look at HGV’s in our village at the time local residents start putting the pressure on to end the Littleton Lane Industrial site in 12 months as promised. We look at the issue of loneliness in our communities and how several local groups are combating it.

We reflect on a fantastic community effort of Big Tree Night and look forward to 2019 with a coffee with Spelthorne CEO Daniel Mouawad, a Shepperton resident. We meet Shepperton based Brown Bag Crisps, recent winners of Best Business in Spelthorne.

This month we reflect on Spelthorne’s activity around the Armistice commemoration, including the planting of 100 trees at Laleham Thameside and bring you an update from your borough and county councillors.

This month we visit Shepperton Allotments, a little oasis of tranquillity in the middle of Shepperton. They need to raise funds to get toilets installed. Can you spend a penny or two?

Issue 84

In this months magazine you can read about the winners of the Shepperton Horticultural Show. Even MP Kwasi Kwarteng is a member of this group! We continue the discussion about greenbelt land. How should it be treated? Are there exceptions to building on it. Is building on Greenbelt ever something we should allow? And we visit the newly refurbished hedgehog hotel in Shepperton, run by the Shepperton Hedgehog Sanctuary.

This month we look back to the peace and quiet of Lower Halliford Green over 100 years ago. What a contrast to the recent traveller incursion! We also visit a project in Mozambique where St Nicholas Church is aiming to fund and build a primary school. Can you help?

We visit the new wellbeing centre at Shepperton Wigs, serving clients who suffer from hair loss as a result of illness and we introduce our troublesome pup who is getting help from a dog behaviourist.
